If you are a serious magician or a beginner, and you really respect the art of magic then are just some simple rules that you must follow…
1) You must be able to keep secrets: I know, when you were a little kid, it was not a good thing to keep secrets…and personally as adults, secrets can make us emotionally sick. But we are not talking about any of that. Bottom line is that magic is magically because of the mystery involved. Before I became a magician, I actually didn’t want to know how tricks were done because it somehow made it less amazing. I wanted to be amazed!! So as you are learning tricks make sure that you never reveal how it’s done. No matter how many times you are asked or begged by a spectator. As magicians we have to help one another out and keep secrets so that we can keep the magic going.
2) You must practice practice practice: Practice makes perfect, right? Actually perfect practice makes perfect. There is no need to practice something the wrong way over and over. So make sure that you learn it correctly and you practice it till you can do it with your eyes closed. Confidence comes from practice and there is nothing like a confident magician.
3) You must entertain: good magicians know that their primary job is to entertain. You can perform amazing tricks but if you are boring, no one will like you and people will leave your performance with a bad taste in their mouth about magic. An entertaining magician can wow an audience with the simplest of tricks, leaving your audience happy and stunned. They will love you. So get good at some patter, some jokes, and your overall presence.
4) You must respect your audience: never ever should you make an audience member look bad. You job is to mystify and amaze, not to show how smart, clever, and in control you are. Making a participant look good will not only keep them coming back for more, but they’ll be referring you to everyone they know.
