Here’s another fun trick that is extremely easy to teach your kids, but will provide hours of entertainment for them and their friends. The first time I showed this to may kids (ages 17,14 & 9), they were so grossed out and blown away that they begged me to teach them. Boys love this one especially because it’s kind of wacky, and anything to do with mutilating your body, boys seemed to be intrigued by…so if you have boys…go have fun with this one.
Twisted Arm. Tell your kids that you have the ability to completely twist your arm around and that you will teach them how. This is a follow the leader trick, so to do it properly, they must do it with you! Ask them to hold their right arm out straight in front of them, flex their wrist so that their fingers are pointing to the left. Now tell them to place their hand on the floor in front of them, keeping their arm straight and their fingers pointing to the left. Do this with them exactly how you want them to do it.
Now tell them (and show them) to crack their hand back toward their body, moving counter clockwise, as far as they can. They should only to be able to move their hand a couple of inches. Here is where the trick comes in. As they are twisting their hand back, pick up your hand off the floor and assist them to keep their arm straight. Say something like “wait a minute, you have to keep your arm straight”, and you touch their elbow. Now replace your hand on the floor appearing to be putting it right back where it was. But in reality you are placing your hand on the floor after rotating your hand all the way around clockwise. It appears that your hand is in the same position as theirs, but really your are twisted in the opposite direction.
This allows you to twist your arm completely around in a counter clockwise direction. They try to do the same, but their arm is stuck. And it looks gross that you can continue twisting your arm around. It just doesn’t seem right in their mind and they get freaked out. Listen to them scream, “ooooh, how did you do that?”. Now when you actually show them how it’s done, they’ll be so excited to show off their new talent.
