Maybe you found yourself watching some amazing magician at a party you attended, or a wedding, or a restaurant, or maybe you just saw an incredible magic special on TV and you are ready to run out an buy a whole magic starter kit and become the next David Copperfield!
Hold on a minute….aren’t you a little too old for that? I mean, isn’t magic for kids? Well, obviously the answer is NO! You are never too old to enjoy magic, AND perform magic for that matter. The best magician I ever say was a man close to 70 who naturally looked just like Santa Clause….you can imagine his marketing technique!!
If the magic bug bit you…you need to take action, and not worry about your age, sex, race, social status, etc. etc. There are dozens and dozens of tricks you can start to learn, and it won’t take long at all to build up a repertoire. Practice is required and most likely the older you are, the more time you have on your hands to devote to the new lucrative hobby.
You will certainly enjoy learning the tricks, but what you will probably most enjoy is the look on the faces of your family and friends as you are entertaining them with your newly found skills. Also, it’s a great idea to work your age into your act…like my Santa friend…use it to your advantage. For example a senior citizen could work tricks into their routine about medicine bottles or canes. Imagine going to the senior center to a game of bridge and wowing them with your card tricks. What fun!
Even if you never turn it into a business and actually make money at it, magic is a great way to meet people. It helps break the ice and give everyone something to laugh at and talk about.
